Description
Today we have a unique release honoring a very special site.
I wanted this to be extremely special because it’s the first oil I’ve ever offered from this region. Let’s discuss a little bit about the territory before we go in depth about the oil. There are two main agarwood producing regions in Papua. The oud oils from gyrinops agarwood in Northern Papua usually have a refreshing, green, minty, and piney scent. On the other hand, Merauke oils extracted from Aquilaria Filaria agarwood are best known for heavy base note.
For most Indonesian agarwood, steam distillation is the best way to extract oil; however, traditional distillation works best for Merauke agarwood, but the yields are low. Distilled in 2004, almost 2 decades earlier, this Merauke possess a unique opening unlike others where there is no harshness and or even burned rubber smell. It’s been distilled by exceptional care by then master distiller who is famous for producing some of the best oils.
There is a strong woody note in the start. You are taken to the depths of a Papuan forest shortly after a morning rain by the dominant dark forests and muddy/earthy note left behind from the rain. As the fragrance unfolds, subtle notes of cocoa beans and coffee eventually become apparent, along with additional spicy herbal and forest overtones. As the oil evaporates, a pristine, woody scent remains. The traditional distillation techniques used to obtain this oil give the scent of southern Papua oud earthy, wet, smoky scent and an intensity of darkness which is very addictive. The scent lingers all day long (even 24 hours) when applied on the skin and on clothes, will probably last for at least few days.
Proud to present you the rare and one the best from the AHO, Oud Al-Aqsa!
