One Tree Sandalwood Oil

A single ancestral tree, 65 years rooted in wild Indonesian soil, brought forth into oil through slow hydrodistillation.

A single tree heartwood weighing approximately 12 kgs after cleaning the sapwood was broken down finely and distilled over a period of time in a stainless steel pot.  This is a dream of an artist/distiller to get hold of such amazing-smelling wood, and I’m very excited to share the piece of history with the community.

The aroma is warm, smooth, and creamy, like soft wood with a touch of sweet honey. At first, it smells fresh and slightly woody, almost like clean-cut wood in the sun. As it settles, it becomes richer and deeper, with a gentle sweet-wood glow that feels calm and relaxing.

The top notes rise gently, soft, buttery woods with a faint aura of fresh-cut sap and sun-warmed bark. As it settles, the oil grows rounder and more profound, and honeyed sandalwood cream is layered with antique cabinet wood and the quiet sweetness of aged heartwood. There’s a natural luminosity here: smooth, velvety, almost milky, yet shadowed with a subtle, earthy depth only old-growth trees can produce.

In the drydown, the aroma becomes tranquil and spiritual, with soft ambered wood, whispering smoke, polished resin, and a serene, meditative glow that lingers for hours. It feels grounded, sacred, and intimate, a sandalwood not just smelled but felt.
