Mysuru Special

Distilling some of the best Mysore sandalwood available for the past few years has been an honor and a pleasure. It’s true that I encountered numerous difficulties with the procedure, supplies, and tools, but this truly helped me learn how to work with one of the most sought-after aromatic materials, which has been used for ages for treatment, healing, and meditation, among other purposes.

Mysuru Special is one of the stories I’m most proud to have written. The special oil is distilled from the vintage root and heartwood and possesses a distinct, rich smell that evokes the feeling of tranquility and grounding. The scent profile is smooth, floral, and sweet with a deep woody base. The heartwood offers soft, creamy notes, and the root offers a richer and more full-bodied experience. No hints of any off notes as the wood was thoroughly cleaned of sapwood.

It has a complex olfactory profile that shifts over time, with the initial sweetness of the top notes mellowing into a more woody, grounded base, making it an ideal ingredient in perfumery and attar making.

This is an artisanal-grade ‘Mysore’ sandalwood oil from the Karnataka region, unlike others where anything sandalwood is named as Mysore without even experiencing the material.
