One such release is Malaya Sultan, an oil distilled from a near-extinct species, Aquilaria Rostrata, found in the highlands of the Terengganu jungles. It took a while to collect the material, as the plan was to distill only incense chips rather than dust or shavings. Each process was then carefully curated until the final oil came out. When I sniffed it for the first time back in 2025, the only thing that came out of my mouth was ‘SubhanAllah. ‘ We are very blessed in this time and age to smell such beautiful-smelling oil directly from the wild.

The oil opens with a narcotic sweetness, accompanied by an underlying creaminess. You’ll encounter wildflowers, apricot, a hint of spice, and leather. The Malay character, reminiscent of a damp jungle, is also present, but it differs significantly from the typical green Malay oils. I’m at a loss for words, but someone who has tried this will comprehend my description. The incense touch is remarkable, transporting you to a Mon-koh session. It lasts forever and projects beautifully. There is zero barn or funk, as there was no soaking involved.
